Ferric chloride (FeCl₃) is an inorganic compound commonly used in water treatment, as well as in various industrial processes. In water treatment, it acts as a coagulant to remove suspended solids, organic matter, and phosphates by binding them into larger particles that can be easily removed. It is also used in wastewater treatment to precipitate contaminants and in the production of iron salts. Ferric chloride is important in etching processes for printed circuit boards (PCBs) and as a catalyst in certain chemical reactions. Additionally, it is used in industrial applications such as dyeing, as well as in oil and gas production.
